The “deluge” came in the early evening on the 14th of July 2021. Today, more than two weeks later, the aftermath of this catastrophe is still not assessable.
The number of people that lost their lives in the region amounts to 125. An additional 155 people are still missing. Nearly 42,000 people are immediately affected by the catastrophe and are in dire need of help. Large parts of the region are without water, electricity, and gas. There is an increased risk of infection for the population, the volunteer helpers, and the official emergency services.
Every day and approximate 2,000 helpers and 200 counsellors are on duty. ...
